As they crossed the islands by boat they were forewarned about the area of Yssam from the captain of the ship saying it was like a maze in that forest and filled with monsters. Paku waved it off as nothing as he knew the way along with knowing that the monsters weren't that much of a threat. Paku had his bags around his shoulders as he seemed carefree about the whole trip. The Haunted Forest of Yssam was very feared by most as it has a strange magic around it that kept it in eternal night time with monsters lurking around it. "Don't be afraid Douglas and make sure to keep your guard up." Paku said as he led him into the forest.

Douglas stayed close to Paku and had his bag on his back. Douglas had stayed quiet the whole time and kept a serious face. It was like he had one thing on his mind, which he did. The memory of how he was nearly killed and how he possibly lost his brother. It was like poison to his mind and gave him for reason for his goals. Douglas chuckled a little though when Paku said about fear before the serious returned. " I got rid of fear ages ago. And you should know the reason why. As for guard up, don't need to tell me twice." Douglas spoke with a serious tone, if Paku was smart enough he would be able to tell that something was on his mind. Douglas had the sword he packed sheathed, ready to be taken out if need be. And for now he followed Paku, keeping an eye out.

"No need to lose your cool Douglas, we are nearly there." Paku said as he walked among the many twists and turns through the maze like forest. Suddenly a pack of wolves had surrounded them looking hungry as drool leaked from their mouths. "Hmm I should have expected this." Paku took a stance as he took some water from a nearby pond and whipped the wolf with it making the wolf bark at him then the rest trying to bite at him from behind him. Paku had no fear as a torrent of water surrounded him and Douglas spread outward onto the wolves as the wolves got washed away from them. Paku lowered his stance and noticed a flying bug like monster had tried to sting him from above. Paku fired a shard of ice toward the monster as it dodged then came right at Paku with full force. The wolves had ran back to the area as their fur was wet and their fangs hanging out.
Before the monster could land an hit it was sliced into pieces by Paku's water magic with a few slices of pressurized water.
The wolves began to attack in the meantime as Paku had been distracted by the hornet like monster.

Douglas listened to Paku as he replied. Douglas was about to try and calm himself till the thing he didn't want happened. They were attacked. Paku had managed to do the best he could but Douglas knew he had to step in once Paku got distracted. Douglas quickly went in between Paku and the wolves as he got his sword out. He activated his magic round it which was slightly dark, making water go round the sword. Douglas did a growl at the wolves, a sign of back off before striking his sword down the water staying round the sword blade. "Don't worry Paku. I got your back." Douglas said, keeping his eyes on the wolves. Douglas then did a step forward strike with his sword aiming to get one wolf in the neck. Douglas was in a fighting stance, ready for if the wolves attacked him from that.

He took notice of the wolves backing off a bit when Douglas managed to kill off one of their own then began to leap back at them as Paku then formed a spear out of ice and threw it straight through the second wolf impaling it as it was run through. The last wolf tried to escape but was taken by surprise as it too was impaled by a spear of ice thus killing it. "Thank you for the back up Douglas but I believe we are done here." Paku lowered his stance and started to walk back through the forest.
"I believe we are almost there now." He said guiding the young elf boy further into the forest.

With Paku final attacks the wolves were gone. Douglas sighed as he lowered his sword. He sheathed it once more before nodding at Paku. Douglas followed him once more keeping a eye out more then ever. Douglas hated monsters by this point. They were dangers. But the anger for the wolves soon went, douglas finding some thing that calmed him. Holding his head necklace that he kept with him. He didn't wear it. But he liked keeping it with him. And he would do so more then ever now. For now though Douglas just followed Paku.

As they walked through the forest many sets of eyes watched them closely but did not attack as they could clearly see the two were tough to beat and kept watch. Suddenly their was a light in the distance but not very bright as lanterns could be seen lighting up the nearby area. "Ah I see we are almost there Douglas. The lanterns here are to light the way toward his house." Paku wondered if Douglas even knew where he was going and why an old friend of his was all the way out here in a dangerous and haunted forest. The question would arise eventually as Paku pressed on seeing that at the end of the trail leading to the house was a sign declaring something on it. 'If one seeks shelter here they must bring candy as an offering.'
Knowing Paku he was already prepared for this and had some taffy he made using water magic for the offering and pressed on without worry. "Here Douglas is your offering, make sure not to eat it." Paku said as he handed a small box to the boy with some of the taffy in it.
As they pressed onward a huge mansion was seen from the distance surrounded by a strange aura.
"Well then it seems we have arrived."

Douglas soon saw the light of the lanterns and was happier to see it. Paku then gave him a box. Douglas wasn't sure why but he held onto them. It was then that Douglas saw the building in the distance. He looked at it somewhat impressed. But he stayed quiet still having one memory haunting his mind.

(Bonus scene!)
as they walked towards the mansion, a dark presence stayed hidden throughout the woods. a black slime moved through the area and silently attached itself to the impaled wolves, consuming them. this slime was a remnant left by Haroch in these woods before he left them. upon consuming the wolves, it morphed and became a large 7 ft tall black wolf like creature. the monster seemingly melted into the ground, unnoticed by the 2 travelers...
